Chip Factories Envisioned for South of Border
Silicon Border Development announced plans to build a 15 square mile semiconductor manufacturing industrial park in Mexico, just 120 miles east of San Diego. They are hoping to entice companies to locate there instead of exporting production to Asia. In addition to federal and state government incentives, Mexican President Vicente Fox has agreed to waive taxes for 10 years to companies that set up operation in the industrial park.
