Columbia Union Vote Upheld By National Labor Relations Board
The National Labor Relations Board ruled in favor of graduate employees at Columbia University on Tuesday. Columbia University had objected to the results of December's union election, when its graduate employees voted in favor of unionizing. Of the votes, 1,602 were in favor of joining the Graduate Workers of Columbia-United Auto Workers Union, and 623 were opposed. Columbia University claimed the election was invalid because of voter suppression and intimidation, but the NLRB rejected the objections because of insufficient evidence.
