Columbus College of Art and Design professors are seeking union representation
Professors at the Columbus College of Art and Design filed a petition to union with the National Labor Relations Board. If the unionization process is successful, Columbus College of Art and Design faculty will be represented by the Ohio Federation of Teachers, which represents various teachers, professors, school staff, and library employees around the state. Columbus College of Art and Design professors state that they are seeking to unionize to bargain for better working conditions and a more equitable and creative college environment. They are also looking for a greater role in academic decision-making and for better benefits and longer contracts for adjunct college staff. Professors in favor of unionization are hoping that the Columbus College of Art and Design Board of Trustees will choose to voluntarily recognize the union, as an overwhelming majority of staff are in favor of unionizing and signed the union petition.
