Companies in the clean energy industry struggles with labor shortages which may slow down the US' climate change initiatives
The Inflation Reduction Act that was enacted in 2022 has taken effect this year and offers tax credits to Americans to encourage installation of cleaner energy systems like solar panels. As a result of this newly increased demand, clean energy companies have been offering better wages and benefits in order to attract workers. Currently, there is a significant shortage of workers in the clean energy industry that is causing companies to re-design their recruiting and retention strategies. Some clean energy companies have gone so far as to consider acquiring other companies in order to grow their workforce quickly. Additionally, many of these companies have expanded their subsidized job-training programs for veterans, formerly incarcerated, and women as a way to utilize these often overlooked populations of the labor force.
