Companies in U.S. Added Fewer Workers Than Forecast in May
According to a new survey, U.S. companies added 133,000 workers in May. The gain was lower than the median estimate of 150,000 workers. Economists say that the numbers show modest growth in the economy, and what may be hesitancy about the recovery on the part of companies. A new report from the Labor Department had the number of people applying for unemployment benefits rising by 10,000 last week.
