Congress Bans Import of Forced Labor Products
Last year, the Associated Press published an article exposing forced labor in Thailand’s fishing industry. These fishing companies were reportedly supplying fish to many U.S. companies including Red Lobster, Whole Foods and Walmart. This week, a bill that will prevent the U.S. from importing fish that was caught through forced labor will be reviewed by President Obama. This bill passed through the Senate on Thursday with a 72-20 vote. It is anticipated that the President will also approve it.
