Controversial Overtime Rules Take Effect
Today is the day that the new, redefined overtime rules for administrative, professional and managerial workers go into effect. Opponents, including the Kerry campaign and organized labor, are asserting that the new rules were created to please big business and will mean a cut in pay for millions of American workers. The President and members of his administration contend that the new regulations are needed in order to clarify vague outmoded rules to make them easier to enforce and reduce expensive litigation costs for companies.
