Coronavirus harms Egypt’s economy
The outbreak of COVID-19 has placed pressure on Egypt’s economy due to a lack of tourism, exports, and increased difficulty acquiring private investment. In 2016 economic reforms which included devaluing currency and cutting subsidies made it challenging for people to make ends meet. Now, the virus outbreak which impacts tourism and trade has made the economy even more vulnerable. So far, 59 cases of the virus have been reported in the country.
