Corzine Admits He Gave More Gifts to Union Leader
In a disclosure that has increased the tension surrounding New Jersey?s contract negotiations with its workers, Gov. Jon S. Corzine acknowledged that he gave more gifts to a former companion ? who leads the state?s largest public employees? union ? than he previously admitted. When he was running for governor in 2005, Mr. Corzine?s campaign was shaken by news reports disclosing that he had forgiven a $470,000 mortgage that a company he owned had given to Carla Katz, president of Communications Workers of America Local 1034, whom he dated from 2002 to 2004.
