Costco Manager Files Sex-Bias Suit
A Costco assistant manager is trying to bring a class-action lawsuit against the company on the grounds that women were denied promotions to the highest management ranks. The suit contends that although women make up almost half of Costco's workforce, one in six managers is a woman and all of Costco's operations vice presidents are men and only two of 30 executive and senior officers are women. The lead counsel for the case, Brad Seligman, is also the head lawyer in a gender-bias suit against Wal-Mart Stores Inc.
