County workers in L.A. have voted for strike authorization
On Friday, the SEIU Local 721 representing 55,000 Los Angeles County workers announced that they have given union leadership permission to authorize a strike. The union’s contract expired at the end of March, and they are negotiating for higher wages, improved health benefits, and protection against privatization. The L.A. County Board of Supervisors is in the workers to put a contingency in place so that services are not disrupted if negotiations fail and workers walk off the job.
