CPI posts biggest rise in 4 years
The Consumer Price Index rose 3.3 percent in last year, posting the biggest annual gain since a 3.4 percent rise in 2000. The core CPI showed a 2.2 percent increase. The core CPI has risen less than 2.2 percent only three years since 1966. Some economists see the 2004 figures as a confirmation of the Federal Reserve?s decision to move at a measured pace.
