CTU won't strike on May 1 but might if CPS imposes more furloughs
The Chicago Teachers Union has decided not to strike on May 1, but may still strike depending on whether or not school leaders cut more work days. Chicago has recently struggled to finance its public schools because money allocated for its budget was dependent upon Gov. Rauner's "pension reforms" legislation that he later vetoed. Now, district leaders are scrambling to maximize the budget with furloughs. The CTU is fighting against the possibility of cutting 13 days at the end of school, and may still strike in order to achieve their goal.
