DACA application backlog is affecting work authorizations for immigrants
Delays in DACA and work authorization application approvals have had serious implications for the immigrant community. COVID-19 and the turbulent nature of immigration policy under the Trump administration have led to a huge application backlog. It is taking upwards of four months to renew DACA once it has expired, leaving recipients of the program without work authorization as it is not being approved with DACA at this time. The importance of work permits and DACA approval for the immigrant community is huge and the delays in application processing is causing issues for the workers across the U.S.
