Danish Companies Seek to Hire but Everyone's Already Working
The current 4.3 percent unemployment rate in Denmark is prohibiting Danish employers from finding skilled workers to hire. The government has been attempting to locate workers by encouraging citizens to push off retirement. Meanwhile, employers are raising wages and seeking refugee and international workers. Denmark faced a 2.4 percent joblessness rate almost ten years ago that resulted in the end of an economic boom as wages and prices skyrocketed. The economic situation is especially problematic for citizens like Peter Enevoldsen, who struggled to complete a large order obtained by his tractor company because of the lack of skilled workers available.
