Data shows that job satisfaction is at a high as many US workers have benefitted from tight pandemic labor market
In 2022, data indicated a decades-high level of job satisfaction amongst US workers. This reflects how the pandemic labor market has affected workers, because there were many wage gains made and increases in work flexibility. The survey found that in particular, people who voluntarily switched jobs during the pandemic and those who work hybrid schedules were the happiest. However, these responses were recorded before layoffs began at many big companies in the fall of 2022. There are predictions that unemployment will rise and the US economy will enter a recession this year, which will likely lead to a decline in workers switching jobs as job security will take priority over job satisfaction.
