Davis Calls on Unions to Help Defeat Recall
In an effort to save his governorship, Gov. Gray Davis gave a speech on Sunday at the union hall for the South Bay A.F.L.-C.I.O. Labor Council. Organized labor has been a consistent source of support for Davis throughout his political career. Earlier that day, Davis appeared at a bill-signing ceremony for legislation requiring employers to help provide health care coverage to about one million California workers who are currently uninsured.
