Deal done to save Vauxhall jobs
A deal was reached between the Unite union and Magna, regarding jobs at the Vauxhall plants in London, which Magna is purchasing along with Opel from GM. The cuts have been limited to 600 jobs, all thorough voluntary redundancy, which is about half of the number thought to have been up for cuts. The union agreed to a pay freeze and other measures in return for the limited cuts and both sides are praising the team effort that allowed the talks to succeed.
