Democrats support airline industry bailout
Congressional Democrats have sign on in support of another federal bailout of the airline industry after a push by airline unions in an effort to keep workers employed during the pandemic. Congress initially voted to approve $32 billion in funds last March as air travel demand plummeted. While those funds will maintain airline workers' employment until the end of September, unions are pushing for another bailout as demand for travel remains low. Airlines have vowed they will accept another bailout unless there are no additional conditions attached by Congress, such as limits on compensation for executives.
