Despite NLRB findings that Starbucks violated labor laws on multiple occasions, former Starbucks CEO denies breaking the law during recent Senate hearing
In the current Senate hearing involving Starbucks, former CEO Howard Schultz has denied breaking the law and defended the company's actions regarding the treatment of its unionized workers and locations. However, numerous decisions from federal officials have found the company to have violated labor laws, and there are hundreds more formal complaints filed with regional NLRB offices alleging further labor law violations. Additionally, despite there being hundreds of unionized stores, not a single union contract has been signed at any of them. The Starbucks Workers United union has expressed its hopes that this Senate hearing will bring about accountability for the company's alleged union-busting response to the unionization campaigns.
