Despite recent surge in organizing activity, unionization rates remain low due to strong employer push back and anti-union campaigns
In the past year, there has been increased organizing activity across the country, and employers have been forcefully resisting these efforts by using union-avoidance tactics and even unfair labor practices. Despite employer pushback, unions have been winning votes at large companies like Amazon and Starbucks and receiving large amounts of media attention. However, unionization rates remain very low overall in the private sector because employers have many tools at their disposal to thwart attempts to organize and are aware of the slow enforcement of labor laws by an understaffed NLRB.
