Detroit unions, angry by city's plan to squeeze them, cut workers, consider illegal strike
Detroit's plan to cut costs by laying off workers and cutting benefits has angered workers and unions. The unions say that they are considering a strike in response to the cuts, a move that is illegal under Michigan law. In exchange for not having an emergency manager, Detroit has to cut millions of dollars in costs. The city says that the cuts are necessary for the city, but unions say that they are not justified.
