Detroit Unions Can't Halt City Finances Agreement, Judge Says
A federal judge has rejected a request from Detroit unions to stop the Governor from entering into an agreement with the city over the budget. The judge found that the unions were not likely to win their lawsuit. The unions say that the proposal violates their collective bargaining rights. The Detroit City Council passed a plan that would allow an oversight board to cut spending and get concessions from the unions. Courts are currently considering other challenges to the plan.
