Detroit water workers defy judge's order to return to their jobs
Detroit water and sewage workers are defying a court order telling them to return to work. The workers are striking over proposed contract concessions, that would reduce the number of workers by 81% and cut pay and benefits for those who remain. Workers said that they targeted the plant because it does not produce drinking water, and that other workers were honoring their picket line. The department said that a few workers returned to their job, but most remained on strike.
