Discrimination on Wall St.? The Numbers Tell the Story
Following several high-profile sex discrimination lawsuits, a closer look is being taken at the hiring and promotion practices of Wall Street firms. Although many of these firms claim to provide bias-free workplaces, statistics tell a different story. Data from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission show that men made up more than two-thirds of the officials and managers in the securities industry in 2002. Lawyers for the EEOC advise that employers who want to avoid lawsuits should take an inventory of their own employment practices and address inequalities.
