Disney Wins Pregnancy Discrimination Lawsuit
Disney has defeated a pregnancy discrimination complaint from an employee who claimed that he was shamed and harassed because of his wife's pregnancy. The employee alleged HR ignored their complaints about harassment involving their procreation and he was terminated shortly after taking a two-week paternity leave. Disney in June filed a motion to dismiss the complaint, arguing that pregnancy discrimination laws "only provide protection to a pregnant employee." U.S. District Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald agreed, as she ruled that the employee's claim did not constitute a Title XII violation.
