Disney's ABC Television Group to cut 5% of workforce
Walt Disney's television division, ABC, announced yesterday that it would cut 400 jobs, or about 5% of its workforce. The media company cited the economic downturn and slumping advertising sale as reasons for the layoffs, which include eliminating 200 positions and not filling another 200. Disney is making cutbacks in most of its other divisions as well, and already offered employees in its theme park and resort divisions a voluntary buyout package.
