Economy added 169k jobs in August as the recovery grinds along
The Labor Department's monthly jobs report showed that the economy added 169,000 jobs in August. Statistics also showed a slight dip in unemployment, though economists attribute the drop to an increasing number of discouraged workers quitting the job search. Additionally, data on job creation in June and July were scaled back by 74,000. Friday's report will weight heavy on officials from the Federal Reserve, as they contemplate beginning quantitative easing.
