Ed O'Bannon-led antitrust suit against NCAA concludes
Friday's conclusion of the key anti-trust suit brought against the NCAA has seen both sides confident that victory will be theirs. The class action suit, led by former UCLA basketball start Ed O'Bannon, seeks to prohibit the NCAA from profiting from student-athletes likenesses and names without dealing with the athletes directly. The NCAA argues student-athletes are compensated with tuition and room and board, and arrangement is necessary to maintain the ideal of amateurism. The ruling is not expected to come down before mid-August.
