Elizabeth Warren Grills Trump’s Labor Nominee Over Workplace Safety
Senator Elizabeth Warren pressed Alexander Acosta, President Trump's pick for labor secretary, on matters of workplace safety today. Senator Warren asked Acosta if he would enforce the "silica rule", which was implemented under President Obama and reduces the amount of cancerous dust employees can be legally exposed to. Acosta avoided the question by stating that President Trump had ordered government agencies to review such laws. When asked if he would commit to enforcing the silica rule, Acosta refused.
