Employees at Bloomberg LP are attempting to unionize
Employees at a Bloomberg LP, the giant media corporation responsible for Bloomberg TV and Businessweek, have begun a unionization drive. If successful in joining Local 30235 of the Washington-Baltimore Newspaper Guild, it would be the first time any group of employees in any Bloomberg company has held a certification vote. The drive is believed to be spurred by fear of more layoffs after the most recent round for the legal services division in 2013. Consultant retained by the company to find further cost-cutting measures add to employees? apprehension. The drive which is less than a month old has almost collected signatures from the 30% of those employees who would be represented as required by the National Labor Relations Board.
