Employees at the Texas Tribune successfully unionize
The Texas Tribune laid off several employees earlier this year, and the workers at the newspaper have unionized in response to the job cuts. Around fifty employees at the Texas Tribune signed union authorization cards, and the employees include editors, reporters, photographers, accountants and other workers. Employees will be represented by the NewsGuild-CWA, the largest media union in the United States. The union is seeking a role in discussions regarding future decisions at the Texas Tribune. The union has not been voluntarily recognized by management, and management has stated that the parties will have to work through certain legal processes.
