Employees at UK food manufacturer set to strike at end of the month
Unionized workers at a major food manufacturer in the UK are planning to strike in late September. The food manufacturer, Bakkavor, produces various food products that are stocked in several grocery chains around the country Products include prepared meals, salads, desserts, soups, and dips. Over seven hundred employees in Lincolnshire and Spalding will participate in the strike action unless a tentative agreement is reached between the union and company management. Workers are represented by the Unite union, and the union stated that workers rejected the most recent pay offer. Bakkavor proposed increasing wages by more than six percent stating the offer was significantly above the national living wage.
