Employers Add 157,000 Jobs in May
American employers added 157,000 jobs to their payrolls in May, according to a Labor Department report. The report was better than some economists had predicted, also showing increases in the wages of those who had jobs as well as consumers' willingness to spend; this was a welcome rebound after a January-March quarter that marked the economy's worst performance in four years.
