Employers cut jobs for sixth straight month
The 62,000 jobs lost in June represent the sixth straight month that employers have cut payrolls in the U.S., underlining the economic hardships currently enveloping the country. The significant job cuts in construction, manufacturing and financial services and retailing more than compensated for job gains in education and health services, leisure and hospitality, and government. However, the information was not particularly unexpected by economic forecasters, who anticipated shrinking jobs and continued unemployment.
