Employers poised to end retiree benefit
It is estimated that employers will reduce or eliminate prescription drug benefits for one-third of all the retirees with employer-sponsored drug coverage when Medicare offers such coverage in 2006. Critics of the new law say that it is forcing retirees into an inadequate health coverage program, but supporter hope that it will help stabilize retiree health benefits.
