EPA axes contracts with unions
Several unions representing Environmental Protection Agency employees have had their collective bargaining agreements terminated, following a March executive order from President Donald Trump that prohibits union contracts at certain federal agencies on national security grounds. The decision impacts thousands of engineers, scientists, and support staff, including over 8,000 workers represented by AFGE. Labor leaders condemned the move as a blow to workers’ rights and pledged legal challenges, warning it could weaken the agency’s ability to safeguard public health and the environment. The terminations come after a 9th Circuit ruling allowed the executive order to proceed amid ongoing litigation.
