EU pledges scrutiny on Opel deal
Questions about the fairness of proposed cuts to Opel jobs after a buyout by Magna have led the European Union Competition Commissioner to state that the cuts are not influenced by the amount of aid given to the company by each country. With most of the 11,000 proposed cuts happening in countries outside of Germany, Belgium, Great Britain and Spain have been lobbying for a closer look at the reasons behind the lack of German cuts.
