EU temp law 'threatens jobs'
The new law would make it mandatory for employers to give temporary workers the same pay and conditions as full time workers after six weeks. The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) warns that this will deter employers from hiring temporary workers and lead to more unemployment, as has occurred in other countries. The CBI suggests that equal payment and benefits be offered to temporary workers only after a year of employment.
