European leaders huddle on youth unemployment
French and German officials will gather in Paris this week for a series of meetings to address the nearly six million people under the age of 25 unemployed across European Union member states. Discussion among EU leaders is centered on creating a pan-European plan for job creation by alleviating the barriers of entry to the workforce. Such measures include making credit more accessible to small businesses, expanding access to vocational training, and offering money for language training and moving costs to increase the geographic mobility of young people. This week?s meetings are a precursor to a summit meeting of European leaders to take place in late June.
