Europe's workers flock to Norway for better-paying jobs
Norway has become the refuge for high-skilled job seekers throughout Europe, as continent-wide unemployment stands at 12.1 percent. Statistics form the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration show that immigration from the European Union has increased by over 10 percent since the beginning of the year. Norway has the lure of of an $80,000 average salary as well as one of the lowest average hours worked of any developed nation. The country has welcomed the immigration surge, as many companies- particularly in the oil industry- have reported a shortage of skilled engineers.
