Exclusive: JetBlue flight attendants seek to hold unionization vote
The Transportation Workers Union of America (TWU) has received authorization cards from JetBlue?s flight attendants and says that it is closing in on the number needed to force a union certification vote. The union said that last year the unionization drive came within 250 authorization cards of holding a vote, but decided to take this year with renewed vigor. The company stated that it was aware of the drive, that union representatives had met with its some of the 4,000 flight attendants, and that some of its employees supported unionization, but that it believed that the unionization drive was still in its infancy. If the a vote is held later this year, the flight attendants would join the JetBlue pilots who recently joined the Air Line Pilots Association last Tuesday, which meant that there were no longer any U.S. airline companies that are union-free.
