Expected labor ruling draws nurses' protest
Registered nurses in Oakland and Los Angeles began a series of protests Tuesday against a ruling expected to be issued by the National Labor Relations Board that they say could undermine labor's strength and deny many skilled workers the right to join unions. The yet-to-be-issued ruling could reclassify hundreds of thousands of registered nurses as supervisors if their jobs require them to direct others, potentially taking them out of union ranks.
