Exxon?s Norway Output Threatened as Union Readies Pension Strike
In a move that could disrupt Exxon Mobil Corp.?s entire production operation in Norway, the Safe union, with its 31 members working on oil platforms, may go on strike for better pensions. The labor action was approved by a court in Oslo today, leaving only the approval or rejection of a public mediator?s offer on behalf of the Norwegian Oil and Gas Association by June 27th. The other two unions who negotiate with the Norwegian Oil and Gas Association have accepted the offer. Those unions represent 7,615 offshore oil-platform workers.
