Facebook Posts about Safety Concerns Prompt Whistle-Blower Suit
OSHA is suing Shepherd's Chapel Church in a whistle-blower case after the church fired the married Darrin and Kimberly Carnahan over claims of unsafe working conditions. Darrin Carnahan lost his job in 2015 when he let his supervisor know that poor ventilation in his workspace made him sick. Carnahan then posted several complaints about the job to Facebook. Kimberly Carnahan was fired when her employer found Darrin Carnahan's social media posts, although she told supervisor Murray that she was unaware of her husband's actions. OSHA typically only files lawsuits after Department of Labor attorneys deem the case 'winnable'.
