Factories humming in May
The Federal Reserve today reported the biggest percent rise in industrial production in a single month since August of 1998. Output rose by 1.1 percent in May following a 0.8 percent increase in April. Factory production and utilities production posted the greatest gains while mining production fell. Overall the numbers indicate a positive forward movement in the manufacturing sector.
