Fake Cover Letters Expose Discrimination Against Disabled
According to research conducted by Syracuse University and Rutgers University, employers within the accounting industry are 26% less likely to show interest in a potential employee who discloses that they have a disability within their cover letter. The researchers from this university applied to job openings at thousands of accounting firms using fake resumes and cover letters. In 2013, only 34% of disabled people who were “working-age” were employed.
