Fast-food strikes planned for 100 cities
On Thursday, in an estimated 100 cities across the country, workers at fast-food restaurants are expected to walk off the job to protest low wages. If the demonstrations are as widespread as is speculated, this would constitute the largest protest by fast-food workers ever. The National Restaurant Association stated that they believe that the vast majority of protesters will be union employees and supporters, not fast-food workers, and believe that the demonstrations are unlikely to disrupt service. The main supporters of the labor action are Fast Food Forward and Service Employees International Union, both of whom also organized the walkout of fast-food workers in 60 major cities that took place over this past summer.
