Fast-food workers demonstrate for better pay
Fast-food workers in Seattle walked out of their jobs Wednesday to demonstrate for higher wages. Stated on their Facebook page ?Good Jobs Seattle,? the workers demanded a wage of $15 from their employers. According to figures released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics in 2012, the mean wage for fast-food cooks in Washington state was $10.22 an hour. Several chains affected by the protests had to close down briefly on Wednesday night and Thursday. Demonstrations in Seattle follow similar protests in New York, Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Louis.
