Federal labor judge finds Starbucks to have violated labor laws and workers' rights, ordering company to rehire several workers and bargain with the union
Recently, a federal labor judge found that Starbucks violated labor laws hundreds of times throughout the unionization campaign at a store location in Buffalo, New York. The company was found to have spied on and threatened workers as well as deny time off. As a result, the judge has ordered Starbucks to reopen a location it had closed down, rehire several workers who were fired, and distribute a recording of employees' rights in which the CEO is present. However, in response, Starbucks has claimed that the firings were not related to union activity but rather directly associated with clear violations of company policy.
